  Posted Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:10 pm (PDT) Greetings Colleagues,
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission invites individuals from arts service organizations, management support organizations and consultants from the arts sector to the CALIFORNIA CULTURAL DATA PROJECT ARTS SERVICE CONVENING on July 29, 2010.
This meeting will bring together organizations and individuals from the arts sector for a day of conversation and idea sharing. It will include the opportunity to learn about the Cultural Data Project (CDP), an online management tool for arts organizations which has become a national standard for data collection in the arts and cultural sector.
The meeting will focus on how arts service professionals can utilize the CDP for the benefit of their clients and their own professional practices. Topics will include:
How arts organizations and arts funders are utilizing the CDP to strengthen themselves and the sector;
* How organizations can track their own financial and programmatic performance over time and benchmark themselves against comparable organizations in specific disciplines, geographic regions and budget sizes; * What kind of data is reflected in the California CDP from the 2,700 organizations who have completed profiles; and * The CDP's role in research and analysis, including information about the James Irvine Foundation's statewide research project utilizing California CDP data.
The meeting will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the California Endowment's Center for Healthy Communities, which is convenient to public transportation. Lunch and free parking will be provided.
