This page will describe the various levels of membership and usership available, so you can identify what you need and apply via one of the links included in each description below. (Scroll down to view.) As Lauri's List is designed specifically for a select professional community, there are many features and areas on the site that are not accessible by the public, and several that are only available to our members. This guide will help you figure out what you need and how to get it, pending approval by our moderators. Each section includes a link to the appropriate forms you'll need to request access. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you! Full members have full access to the website. This level of access requires application approval and a paid membership fee, and is designed for those who want to find work. Full members can view jobs, post jobs without waiting for moderator approval, and access all member lists and other members-only resources. They pretty much have the run of the place. (You guys rock!) New member candidates must first complete our standard application process before paying the annual member fee. (Membership fees start at $50/yr.)
In general, we're looking only for members with significant training (e.g. a degree in voice at the bachelor's level or higher) and real professional classical singing experience (e.g. two years paid position in a challenging choral environment) as well as marketable skills (sightsinging, ear training, diction training, etc.). We need musicians, not just good voices, and the ability to learn quickly isn't enough. With only rare exceptions, singers who are still completing a bachelor's degree are not eligible. As of April 1, 2009, all new applicants must be at least 23 years of age. For more specifics, please see our Terms and Conditions. The Church List and Temple List each have their own criteria for eligibility. Full membership no longer includes automatic eligibility for the Church List. Significant choral experience and high-level sightreading skills are mandatory. Consideration for the Temple List is contingent on evidence of a significant amount of prior experience singing Jewish music as a professional chorister. Registered users are singers, musicians, contractors and other arts professionals who have been granted enhanced access so that they can view member lists for hiring purposes and post job opportunities. This level is designed specifically for those who need to find singers. In order to protect our members' personal information, they must formally request this user access, which may or may not be granted, based on verification of their identity and proof of legitimate involvement in the local classical music community.
Additional options:Guests (unregistered visitors) can always take advantage of our Public areas of the site: the directories, the information pages, etc. Nice to see you! 1st Stage is a Yahoo! group for developing singers who are on a career track, but not yet eligible for Lauri's List membership. There is a simple application/referral process, no fee, and it provides a communications venue for those who are looking to beef up their performance experience and build their skills. Welcome to the future of the music community!
Did you know that 1st Stagers and other non-member singers are fully eligible for The Links, our almost-daily newsletter?
