Terms and Conditions

1. Terminology

The following terms are used throughout these Terms of Service: “Your”, “your” and “user” refer to all individuals accessing this site. “We”, “us”, and “our” refer to Lauri’s List, LaurisList.com, LaurisList.net, Singerpreneur and Singerpreneur.com and their designees, collectively referred to as “LaurisList.com”.

The term “Site” refers to www.LaurisList.com, www.LaurisList.net and Singerpreneur.com, including all of the subsidiary web pages, everything displayed on those pages, and everything that supports those pages. The term “Site” does not include external pages linked to on the LaurisList.com, LaurisList.net and Singerpreneur.com sites.

2. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to LaurisList.com. LaurisList.com provides its service to you, subject to the following Terms of Service (“TOS”), which may be updated and/or revised by us from time to time, without notice to you. You may access and review the most current version of the TOS at any time at

By using the site, you accept and agree to the TOS as applied to your use of the site. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you may not access or otherwise use the site.

Any notices to you may be made via email, regular mail, telephone or other means. The Service may also provide notices of changes to the TOS or other matters by displaying notices or links to notices to you, generally on the Service.

In addition, when using particular LaurisList.com services, you and LaurisList.com shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services which may be posted from time to time. All such guidelines or rules are hereby incorporated by reference into the TOS.

3. General Information

This agreement supercedes any prior agreements between you and Lauri’s List and its designees. You may also be subject to additional terms and conditions that may apply when you use affiliate services, third-party content or third-party software.

You are responsible for obtaining access to the Service and that access may involve third-party fees (such as Internet service provider or airtime charges). You are responsible for those fees, including those fees associated with the display or delivery of advertisements. In addition, you must provide and are responsible for all equipment necessary to access the Service.

We agree to use reasonable means to ensure that the Site is available 24 hours a day. In the event that this is not possible, we will endeavor to rectify any problem as soon as reasonably practical.

The section titles in the TOS are for convenience only, and have no legal or contractual effect.

4. Proprietary Rights

You acknowledge and agree that the Service and any necessary software used in connection with the Service contain proprietary and confidential information that is protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws. You further acknowledge and agree that Content contained in sponsor advertisements or information presented to you through the Service or advertisers is protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, patents or other proprietary rights and laws. Except as expressly authorized by LaurisList.com or advertisers, you agree not to modify, rent, lease, loan, sell, distribute or create derivative works based on the Service or the software, in whole or in part.

LaurisList.com grants you a personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right and license to use the object code of its software on a single computer; provided that you do not (and do not allow any third party to) copy, modify, create a derivative work of, reverse engineer, reverse assemble or otherwise attempt to discover any source code, sell, assign, sublicense, grant a security interest in or otherwise transfer any right in the software. You agree not to modify the software in any manner or form, or to use modified versions of the software, including (without limitation) for the purpose of obtaining unauthorized access to the service. You agree not to access the service by any means other than through the interface that is provided by LaurisList.com for use in accessing the service.

Users are prohibited from violating or attempting to violate the security of LaurisList.com, including attempts to: a) access data not intended for them or logging into a server or account which the user is not authorized to access; or b) probe, scan or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures without proper authorization.

LaurisList.com, the LaurisList.com design elements, and other LaurisList.com logos and product and service names are trademarks of LaurisList.com and Singerpreneur (the “LaurisList.com Marks”). Without specific and prior permission from LaurisList.com and its designees, you agree not to display or use, in any manner, the LaurisList.com Marks.

5. Description of Service

LaurisList.com currently provides users with access to a rich collection of resources through its network of properties (the “Service”). You also understand and agree that the service may include certain communications from LaurisList.com, such as service announcements and administrative messages, and that these communications are considered part of the LaurisList.com membership and you will not be able to opt-out of receiving them. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Service, including the release of new LaurisList.com properties, shall be subject to the TOS. You understand and agree that the Service is provided “as-is” and that LaurisList.com assumes no responsibility for the timeliness, deletion, mis-delivery or failure to store any user communications or personalization settings.

6. Links and third-party content

The Service may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources. Because LaurisList.com has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that LaurisList.com is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. You further acknowledge and agree that LaurisList.com shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.

You also understand and agree that the Service may include advertisements and that these advertisements are necessary for LaurisList.com to provide the Service. Your correspondence or business dealings with, or participation in promotions of, advertisers found on or through the Service, including payment and delivery of related goods or service, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and such advertiser. You agree that LaurisList.com shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage or any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings or as the result of the presence of such advertisers on the Service.

7. Eligibility and application processing

LaurisList.com is designed and intended primarily to serve working professional singers with a classical music background, and certain eligibility criteria apply. Our standard guidelines are that new members must be at least 23 years of age, have completed a music degree at the bachelor's level or higher, have extensive vocal, diction and musicianship training, and have been working fairly steadily for at least two years as a professional singer in the classical realm. Other non-singing "vocal pros" (e.g. accompanists, coaches and choral conductors) may also apply for full membership, and similar criteria will be used in consideration of their applications.

All members are reminded that they are representatives of the Lauri's List community, and are expected to choose jobs carefully, applying only for those for which they feel truly qualified.

We are a service organization with a genuine desire to help the bona fide professionals in our communities, so every effort will be made to be fair, reasonable and consistent in our application processing procedures. However, applicants may be approved for or denied access to the Service at the sole discretion of authorized LaurisList.com representatives, and reasons for any decision may or may not be disclosed to the applicant. Denied applicants may reapply after one year.

Full membership (“Membership”): Qualifying credentials generally include, but are not limited to, a bachelor's or higher degree in music, at least two years’ professional experience in the field (e.g. a regular church position or a strong record of paid work), and advanced vocal technique. Highly-developed sightreading skills and a very well-trained ear (i.e. excellent intonation and blending) are also extremely important. Behavior on the job is also a major consideration. All applicants must submit a completed application questionnaire, including, but not limited to, details regarding training, experience, skills and professional references. As of April 2009, all new members must be at least 23 years of age.

Note: As of June 2009, the List-Only membership option is closed. Members are no longer accepted at this level.

Registered user accounts may be obtained and used by active, verified professionals in the classical music community, for the purpose of locating independent professionals for available positions. On obtaining a user account, you’ll have access to the services and the functionality that we may establish and maintain at our sole discretion. This access may be rescinded at any time.

Student applicants: All full members must be at least 23 years of age. While we have previously attempted to offer support to classical singers "getting their feet wet" through our 1st Stage program, this group is no longer available as of January 2011. Community membership is designed and intended for established, working professionals in the classical vocal realm.

Publicly accessible content: Not all areas of the Site and Service require access approval. “Public” areas of the Service are those areas of the LaurisList.com network of properties that are intended by LaurisList.com to be available to the general public. By way of example, publicly accessible areas of the Service would include LaurisList.com WebLink and Singer-to-Singer (S2S) directories, the Arts in the Media section, and other portions of the LaurisList.com website that are open to both members and visitors.

The Links is the primary public newsletter published by site editors. It is aimed at members and registered users, but is also open to career-minded readers in general, regardless of membership status. The subscription is free, and available only via email, although some issues may be archived online for some period of time. Newsletter subscriptions are managed through a third-party service, and subscriptions may be suspended or canceled at any time, with or without cause, by administrators or by the user. Additional public newsletters may be introduced as deemed beneficial. For a list and description of our current newsletter offerings, click here. All members-only information linked in these newsletters is password-protected to maintain the exclusivity of privileged information. Public newsletters published from April 2009 onward may be forwarded to others, using the link provided at the bottom of each issue.

8. Veracity of information

By requesting a registered user, full member or list-only account, you represent and warrant that you are eligible for that account asset set forth in this agreement, and that the information you include as part of the registration process is accurate and not deliberately untrue or exaggerated.

In consideration of your use of this service, you agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself on our registration forms and applications; maintain and update your data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or if LaurisList.com has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, we have the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of our service.

All members and users agree to use your account for your personal use only, and not to redistribute any of the content on this site without the express permission of an authorized representative of LaurisList.com. The only exclusion to this policy is in the case of the words “please forward”, as included by a submitting user, at the top of a job or concert post. In this instance, and only then, users may send the information to others using cut-and-paste technique, without procuring prior permission.

9. Member accounts, passwords and security

You will set a password and user ID during the application process, or they will assigned to you, depending on the initial access level requested. Once your account is approved, your password can be changed by you at any time. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account, and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account. You agree to a) immediately notify LaurisList.com of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. LaurisList.com cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this section.

The user ID you choose or assigned to you during initial set-up cannot be changed by the member, but can be changed by an administrator. Contact your site administrator if you wish to change your user ID/screen name.

Lauri's List is a private service for professional classical singers in Southern California. Job listings and other Members-only resources are intended for the singing professionals that have been screened for full membership, and may not be forwarded to other users or external resources, especially any other groups or lists.

10. Fees

Although many aspects of the Service are available to the general public and/or to verified and approved Registered Users without charge, certain areas are accessible only to full Members who have successfully passed the application process and paid their annual membership fees, as indicated elsewhere on the site. (Certain exceptions may apply, at the sole discretion of the owner.) Membership fees are non-refundable. If, at some point during your paid subscription period, you wish to be removed from our email and/or member lists, or wish to withdraw from other activities deemed part of the Service, contact the site administrator via the Contact link here or at the bottom of any page within this domain, and you will receive communication outlining your options for a change of subscription. There may or may not be a subscription refund offered, pro rata or otherwise.

11. User conduct and submitted content

We expect all users to conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner at all times. Gossip, personal attacks, "flaming" or other forms of discourteous and unprofessional online conduct are grounds, at our discretion, for the immediate suspension or termination of the offending party's account. LaurisList.com does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Service. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, you grant LaurisList.com the following world-wide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license(s), as applicable:

a) With respect to Content you submit, send via email or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of LaurisList.com, the license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly display such Content on the Service solely for the purposes of providing and promoting LaurisList.com. This license exists only for as long as you elect to continue to include such Content on the Service and will terminate at the time you remove or LaurisList.com removes such Content from the Service.

b) With respect to Content other than photos, graphics, audio or video you submit, send via email, or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, the perpetual, irrevocable and fully sub-licensable license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other works in any format or medium now known or later developed.

You are solely responsible for your communications and the consequences of their posting, and for the content and information you provide, distribute, post, include, link to, or otherwise upload to our site. You also agree that we are only acting as a passive conduit for the online distribution and publication of your content.

You acknowledge that LaurisList.com does not pre-screen some content, and that LaurisList.com and its designees shall have the right (but not the obligation) in their sole discretion to refuse any content that is available via the Service. Without limiting the foregoing, LaurisList.com and its designees shall have the right to remove any content that violates the TOS or is otherwise objectionable. You agree that you must evaluate, and bear all risks associated with, the use of any Content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of such content. In this regard, you acknowledge that you may not rely on any content created by or submitted to LaurisList.com, including, without limitation, information in LaurisList.com forums, on the LaurisList.com Job Board, their calendars and directories, and in all other parts of the Service.

You understand that all information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials (“Content”), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such Content originated. This means that you, and not LaurisList.com, are entirely responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via the Service. LaurisList.com does not control the Content posted via the Service and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such Content. You understand that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will LaurisList.com be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in any Content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service.

You agree not to use the Service to:

a) upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that

i. is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

ii. you do not have a right to make available under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships (such as inside information, proprietary or confidential information learned or disclosed as part of employment relationships or under nondisclosure agreements);

iii. infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights (“Rights”) of any party;

iv. constitutes unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, “Junk mail”, “spam”, “chain letters”, “pyramid schemes” (including network marketing), or any other form of solicitation, except in those areas (such as directories) that are designated for such such purpose;

v. contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;

b) harm minors in any way;

c) impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a LaurisList.com official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;

d) forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;

e) disrupt the normal flow of dialogue, cause a screen to “scroll” faster than other users of the Service are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other users’ ability to engage in real-time exchanges;

f) interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Service, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Service;

g) intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national or international law, including, but not limited to, regulations promulgated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, any rules of any national or other securities exchange, including, without limitation, the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ, and any regulations having the force of law;

h) “stalk” or otherwise harass another; or

i) collect or store personal data about other users.

12. General practices regarding use and storage

You understand that the technical processing and transmission of the Service, including your content, may involve a) transmissions over various networks; and b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices.

You acknowledge that LaurisList.com may establish general practices and limits concerning use of the Service, including, without limitation, the maximum number of days that email messages, message board postings or other uploaded content will be retained by the Service, the maximum number of email messages that may be sent from or received by an account on the Service, the maximum size of any email message that may be sent from or received by an account on the Service, the maximum disk space that will be allotted on LaurisList.com’s servers on your behalf, and a maximum number of times (and the maximum duration for which) you may access the Service in a given period of time. You agree that LaurisList.com has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any messages and other communications or other content maintained or transmitted by the Service. You acknowledge that LaurisList.com reserves the right to log off accounts that are inactive for an extended period of time. You further acknowledge that LaurisList.com reserves the right to change these general practices and limits at any time, in its sole discretion, with or without notice.

13. Modifications to Service

LaurisList.com serves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof), with or without notice. You agree that LaurisList.com shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.

14. Jurisdiction

The TOS and the relationship between you and LaurisList.com shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and LaurisList.com agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the county of Los Angeles, New York.

The failure of LaurisList.com to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the TOS shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of the TOS is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties’ intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the TOS remain in full force and effect. You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the Service or the TOS must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.

International Use: Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable Content. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from the United States or the country in which you reside.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold LaurisList.com, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders or other partners and employees, harmless from any loss, liability, claim or demand, including reasonable attorney’s fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post, transmit or make available through the Service, your use of the Service, your connection to the Service, your violation of the TOS, or your violation of any rights of another.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site is for general informational purposes only. None of the information provided shall be construed as legal or other professional advice. LaurisList.com makes no warranty that a) the Service will meet your requirements; b) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; or c) that users and members listed on this site will be the right candidate for any position.

You expressly understand and agree that your use of the site is at your sole risk, and it is your responsibility to carefully and vigilantly screen and evaluate jobs, candidates and/or advertisers and their products, as applicable. We are unable to verify or provide any assurance relating to the nature of duration of any work or appointment that you may be offered as a result of using the Service, or to the ultimate level of qualification, professionalism and/or readiness of our members for any position. Membership in the group is exclusive, but does not constitute endorsement or guarantee by the list owner that any member responding listed here or responding to a posted opportunity will be qualified or appropriate for any particular job. Just as job posters may not assume respondents are endorsed by this list, this is not an endorsement of any production or organization, and singers should always adopt a "buyer beware" attitude toward all contractors and advertisers. It remains each user's sole responsibility to ensure that any work, appointment, candidate or product is acceptable to them.

17. Limitation of Liability

You expressly understand and agree that LaurisList.com shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if LaurisList.com has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from a) the use or the inability to use the service; b) the cost of procurement of substitute goods and services resulting from any goods, data, information or services purchased or obtained or messages received or transactions entered into through or from the service; c) unauthorized access to or alternation of your transmissions or data; d) statements or conduct of any third party on the Service; or e) any other matter relating to the Service.

18. Exclusions and Limitations

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages. Accordingly, some of the above limitations of sections 16 and 17 may not apply to you.

19. Special admonition for services relating to financial matters

LaurisList.com is an Internet-based community providing business-related services and general education as well as networking opportunities. Neither the information, nor any opinion contained in this Site constitutes a solicitation or offer by LaurisList.com or its affiliates to buy or sell any securities, futures, options or other financial instruments or provide any investment advice or service. None of the information or other content provided on this Site is legal or professional advice, and should not be relied on as such.

20. Termination

You agree that LaurisList.com, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or use of the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use or if LaurisList.com believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS. You agree that any termination of your access to the Service under any provision of this TOS may be effected without prior notice, and acknowledge and agree that LaurisList.com may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all related information and files in your account and/or bar any further access to such files or the Service. Further, you agree that LaurisList.com shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to the Service.

21. Violations

Please report any violations of the TOS to the site administrator via the "Contact" link at the bottom of any page within this domain.
