Seeking classical-savvy writers for our Community Review Program

Musicians with strong writing skills and a solid understanding of classical vocal repertoire are sought on an ongoing basis, for reviews of Southern California concerts, vocal events and opera productions.

  • There is no firm time commitment -- our reviewer pool is invited to specific assignments as needed, and participants can accept or decline based on their availability and interests.
  • Reviewers may receive comp tickets, bylines and other perks, and will retain full rights to their work.  Some events may also include reimbursement for additional expenses, such as parking.
  • You are not expected to critique the performance:  our review program is designed to provide "friendly coverage" of the event, as a service to the many, many arts organizations who face the increasing struggle to get any coverage at all from traditional media.
  • All reviews and site content are subject to the discretion of our editors, but once completed, the review will be posted on the publicly-accessible Singerpreneur blog at LaurisList.com.
  • Reviewers are encouraged to "echo" the post elsewhere, by publishing the review on their own sites/blogs or submitting to other sites, as they wish. We also encourage reviewers to link to their content and that of their colleagues on their social media pages, and can help them learn how to use those tools to help spread the word.

This new program is an endeavor of arts activism, to support local vocal performances -- these are to be honest, knowledgeable reviews by avid arts advocates.  Candidates are selected based on writing skills, general understanding of classical vocal music, and a relatively objective standing in the community.
