Other than 'find me a singer', what's the most common request we've received over the years?  Inquiries about finding a voice teacher!  The good news is that the hunt for a pedagogue who trains pros is about to get simpler.


On March 15th, 2010, we'll launch the new ProBuilders Teacher Directory at LaurisList.com, making it easier for singer pros in the Southland to find the help they need.  We'll list teachers and coaches who offer advanced instruction/coaching in at least one of these crucial areas (and other subjects will be considered):

  • Vocal technique
  • Repertoire development
  • Audition preparation
  • Acting for singers
  • Recital programming
  • Improvisation
  • Sightreading
  • Ear training
  • Memorization
  • General musicianship
  • Languages
  • Vocal diction
  • Alexander Technique
  • Dalcroze eurhythmics
  • Mime and movement

Here's the difference:  rather than making experienced vocalists sift through yet another catchall, yellow pages-style list of every self-proclaimed voice teacher in the area, this directory is designed to serve established classical singers, as well as students aiming for a professional career.  So, not all teachers and coaches will be included -- instructors must either be invited by administrators or recommended by at least two List-eligible singers to be included.  Teacher profiles will include information regarding training, special expertise, current positions and general availability.  Just the thing for singers with advanced needs.

The cost? 

Just the price of membership: teachers must be full members of the List, but as they are also an invaluable resource within our community, there is no additional charge for the listing itself. 

We're accepting submissions now.  ProBuilders promises to be one of the most valuable resources available for local and visiting singer pros, and we'll spread the word online, via email and by direct mail.  If you'd like to be part of it, or know someone who should be, these links will get you started.
